Hey lovelies! I’ve just arrived to beautiful London and not surprisingly, the sun has been hiding behind the clouds – afterall this city isn’t really known for its beaming sunshine… Anyway, I want to share with you a few of my quick and all natural DIY recipes to maintain that summer bronze for the last few days of summer and into the cool fall days. It may be a bit soon for those of you out there still soaking up the sun, but I know I’m going to be needing some self-tanner while I’m here for my British holiday! Here are my recipes for a sunkissed glow:
- Unscented white lotion (i.e. Vaseline, Lubriderm, or Nivea)
- Cocoa powder
Mix equal parts of lotion and cocoa powder with a fork until completely smooth and all noticeable clumps are gone. Apply a generous amount and let dry fully before dressing. Adjust the amount of lotion or cocoa powder to achieve the look you want!
- 1 cup of water
- 4 tea bags
- Spray bottle
Pour the boiling water over the tea bags and allow the tea to steep for at least 20 minutes. Remove the tea bags and pour the tea into the spray bottle. Spritz away! Adjust the ratios and spritzing applications for your desired look.
- 1 cup cooled coffee (caffeinated or decaf, whichever!)
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tsp. hydrating oil of your choice (i.e. coconut, olive, almond, jojoba, etc.)
- Spray bottle
Shake all of the ingredients together. Pour them into a spray bottle and get spritzing! You can adjust the amount of coffee or water to achieve your desired look. Let dry and spritz again to achieve a darker color.
All of these recipes are super easy, natural, and seriously hydrating! Keep in mind that they don’t last nearly as long as store-bought self-tanners and do wash off quite quickly, but at least you’ll know exactly what’s going onto your skin. Exfoliation and daily upkeep is very important for a lasting sunkissed glow!
